The latter means that a speaker recognizes an event as if there were both of the speaker and the hearer in the same place where the event occurred and they viewed the event from the inside of it.\nI apply these ideas to the analysis of the temporal expressions in Japanese and English and discuss that -ru in Japanese does not perfectly correspond to the present tense in English nor -ta does not do to the past tense.\nUnlike the English speaker, the Japanese one does not consider the speech time as the only one criterial time. The temporal criterion continuously changes and is relative for the Japanese speaker. S/he always speaks of an event as if s/he shared the same place and time with her or his hearer and both of them existed together at the place which and at the time when the event occurred. Kato (2007)calls this Japanese feature “NOW & HERE”. The time when the Japanese speaker recognizes the event is NOW while the place where s/he does is HERE.\nThus, -ru in Japanese represents the time and after the time which the Japanese speaker recognizes the event while -ta does the time before which s/he recognizes the event.\nI examine the difference between the English and the Japanese temporal structure through the analysis of the historical present. In one paragraph, there are few alternations between the past and the present tense in English. Almost every sentences is in the present tense. On the \nother hand, we can find a lot of exchanges between -ru and -ta in one Japanese paragraph. I clarify that the English and the Japanese speaker recognized the time from a different point of view and has different temporal system and criteria.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"2872","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"Fujiwara, Masamichi"}]}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"実践女子大学"}]},"item_10002_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA12216647","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"藤原 , 正道"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"2871","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2016-06-20"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"FLC8-6.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"248.2 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"FLC8-6","url":"https://jissen.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1276/files/FLC8-6.pdf"},"version_id":"4e7ab168-1669-40f7-93da-22dd4f473cc7"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"英語話者と日本語話者の時間把握についての一考察","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"英語話者と日本語話者の時間把握についての一考察"},{"subitem_title":"An analysis of the temporal construal on English and Japanese speakers","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"16","path":["70"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2014-04-01"},"publish_date":"2014-04-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"1276","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["英語話者と日本語話者の時間把握についての一考察"],"weko_creator_id":"16","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T13:03:45.364728+00:00"}
