In addition, an \"automatic scoring system\" for the specific purpose in class was introduced and used by the students. Also, past students' English writing was shown as exemplars. As a result, in the post-writing test, compared to the pre-test, there was a significant improvement in word count, errors in 'because' fragment sentences, errors in 'for example' sentences, discourse markers indicating sequence, other discourse markers, and in Topic Development. Additionally, there was a certain improvement in errors involving the 'be-verb (copula).\" In the student questionnaires, the rubric, the automatic scoring system, and the exemplars of past students' English writing were all recognized as effective in improving English writing
