| 内容記述 | This paper aims to analyze the transformation of funeral rites among Pakistani Muslims in Norway, as well as the multicultural situation in the Muslim burial sections of Oslo’s municipal cemeteries. It explains how Islamic funeral practices are negotiated within the legal systems and constraints of the non-Muslim majority host society, thereby creating a new hybrid culture. In this paper, I will first introduce the history of the Pakistani Muslim community in Norway. I will also explore the composition and functions of the ethnic enclave in Oslo known as “Little Pakistan.” Next, I will describe how Norway’s funeral system and its regulations change Islamic funeral rites. Based on my observations of the Muslim burial sections in Oslo's municipal cemeteries, funeral processes at mosques and cemeteries, and grave visits, I will then interpret the material traces left in the “deathscapes.” These reveal the narratives woven there and the transformations in people's consciousness. Finally, after examining the current state of the luxury neighborhood known as “Little Norway”, which was built by Pakistani immigrants in their homeland alongside a vast cemetery, I will reconsider the so-called “Myth of Return.” |

| 内容記述 | 本稿の目的は、ノルウェーにおけるパキスタン系ムスリム移民の葬送儀礼の変容と、オスロ市営墓地内のムスリム土葬区画の多文化状況を分析することで、イスラーム式葬送儀礼の諸実践が、いかにして非ムスリムが多数派のホスト社会の法制度や諸制約と交渉し、新たなハイブリッド文化となって生成しているか、その動態を解明することにある。 本稿では、まずノルウェーにおけるパキスタン系ムスリム移民社会の歴史と、「リトル・パキスタン」とも呼ばれるオスロ市内のエスニックタウンの構成および機能を紹介する。次に、ノルウェーの葬送制度とイスラーム式葬送儀礼の詳細ならびに変化について述べる。そして、オスロ市営墓地内のムスリム埋葬区画の様子、モスクまたは墓地での葬儀のプロセスや墓参の様子等を踏まえて「死の空間」に残された物質的痕跡を読み解き、そこで紡がれる物語と人々の意識変容を浮き彫りにする。最後に、パキスタン系移民の故郷に建設された「リトル・ノルウェー」と呼ばれる新興豪邸街と広大な墓地の現状を見たあとで、いわゆる「帰還の神話」を再考することにしたい。 |
