| 内容記述 | This paper explores the definition of “International Studies” as a fundamental academic framework for the newly established Faculty of International Studies at Jissen Women’s University. Drawing on the author’s extensive educational background in engineering, literature, and management, it compares domestic and international university models to highlight the inherent “interdisciplinarity” of the field. By aligning the faculty’s four specialized areas with the Science Council of Japan’s standards, the paper establishes the academic validity of a curriculum linked to disciplines such as sociology and anthropology. The discussion emphasizes an integrated approach—combining advanced English proficiency, study abroad, regional studies, and Tourism Studies as a comprehensive human-social science—to cultivate individuals capable of acting proactively in a global society. In conclusion, the author redefines International Studies as an “interdisciplinary integrated science aimed at multidimensionally understanding the complexities of global society and elucidating cross- cultural interactions,” providing a strategic academic compass for future global challenges. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 本稿は、新設された実践女子大学国際学部における教育・研究の指針を確立するため、学問的拠り所としての「国際学」の定義を考究したものである。筆者の工学・文学・経営学にわたる教育経験を基に、国内外の大学事例を比較し、国際学が諸学問を包摂する高い「学際性」を持つことを明らかにした。日本学術会議の参照基準に基づき、学科の 4 専門領域を社会学や文化人類学等の既存ディシプリンと紐付けることで、カリキュラムの学術的妥当性を提示している。特に、高度な英語運用能力、留学、地域研究、そして総合人文社会科学としての観光学を統合し、国際社会で主体的に行動できる人材養成の在り方を論じた。結論として、国際学を「複雑な国際社会を多角的に理解し、異文化間の相互作用を解明する学際的統合学問」と再定義し、将来のグローバル課題への学術的指針を示した。 | |||||
