This paper also aims to examine the role that the University should play in relation to the training of teachers for kindergartens and nursery schools.  We conducted questionnaires and interviews on "the present conditions of and challenges facing the training in kindergartens and nursery schools" and "the effect of teaching trainees on improving early childhood educates’/ caregivers’ own work” with teachers at Hino municipal kindergartens and nursery schools.   The outcome was that through teaching trainees, early childhood educates/caregivers are influenced by "the positive attitude of trainee students" and "their approach to engaging with individual children with great care," which gives them an opportunity to review their own work and to find a new awareness of the profession from the journals written by trainee students. Teaching trainees has also increased the number of opportunities for early childhood educates/ caregivers to discuss their work among themselves. In other words, the experience of teaching trainees has a positive effect on improving the early childhood educates’/caregivers’ own work.  However, some of the trainee students are not easy to teach, and the early childhood educates/caregivers supervising them are struggling. Against this background, some faculty members of the University participated in the training review sessions and exchanged their opinions with the early childhood educates/caregivers and the trainee students.
