In 1972 the Agency created the Leisure Division Office, which played a variety of crucial roles in promotion of policy researches regarding leisure policy, in leaison and coordination among ministries based on accomplishments of its research, in support for leisure policy of local government throughout the country, and in manifestation of the direction of the administration's leisure policy plan by means of publishing "white papers" and "working papers." Since its establishment in May 1972, the Leisure Development Center had engaged in research on leisure policy of the Economic Planning Agency, in which a series of funded researches "Toward Realization of a Leisure Society" in the 1980 s were particularly significant.
