内容記述 Recently, a method to reduce weight bearing by pressurizing the lower body sealed below abdomen was developed. This method is expected to be used effectively in the fields of medicine and sports. Hence, we examined the effect and the safety of lifting the body with air pressure on heart rate during the running.

Experiment 1
Influence of change in air pressure on the circulatory system and body composition. The subjects were five female college students aged 21 to 23 years. The experiment was conducted from 5 to 20 January, 2015 using an exercise machine equipped with weight bearing reduction system, DREAM HUNTER (Showa Electric Co., Ltd.). Before the experiment, the subjects were weighed on the exercise machine at no pressure as baseline, and then at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% increase in the air pressure. Each subject ran for 20 minutes at 50% HRmax intensity, and then at each air pressure. Ten minutes before, immediately after and 15 minutes after the run, the subjects heart rate was measured using POLAR RS800X and blood pressure was measured using CH-608 (Citizen Systems Co., Ltd.) Body composition was measured at the beginning and end of the experiment using INBODY 720 (Bio space, Inc. Ltd.). With the increase of the air pressure, the mean running speed significantly increased. However, at each pressure neither heart rate nor blood pressure changed. Compared to baseline, body weight significantly decreased after running at each air pressure. From the results above, the method of elevating the body by air pressure did not have an effect on the heart's workload in the short-term.

Experiment 2
The subjects were the same as experiment 1. The experimental period was 12 days. The body composition was measured at the beginning and end of the experiment using INBODY 720 (Biospace, Inc. Ltd.). Heart rate was measured at the same three time points as mentioned above. By day 12, the heart rate immediately after the running at the level of 50% air pressure increase was significantly lower than the baseline level without the air pressure at all of the running speeds. The heart rate 15 minutes after the running showed the same only at higher running speed. Our result suggests at the change in weight bearing with the air pressure may be an efficient exercise prescription in the long-term but not in a short-term.
